    Abstract: The method of measuring the viscosity and viscoelastic properties of thin films under exactly defined conditons involves placing more than 20 measurement bodies (4) with a smaller contact surface than the area of the measurement specimen (1) in a magazine. The measurement bodies are automatically applied to untouched areas of the surface of the specimen in succession to perform measurements in conjunction with a position sensor (5,6). USE/ADVANTAGE - For measurement of rheological properties on films on selected substrates (2) during e.g, burning-in under conditions of varying temp. Eliminates need to prepare many specimens with different degrees of hardening.

    Abstract: (A) Quality testing of lacquer layers on plate edges involves measuring a parameter (pref. voltage drop) characterising the electrical conductivity of the lacquer layer and comparing the measured value with a reference value to obtain a quality value. (B) The test appts. comprises a plate holder (1), a stepwise adjustable voltage source (4) which is connected to the plate (2) by an earth lead (6) and by a series resistance and a slide contact (7) sliding along a plate edge (10), and an electronic processor (15) which is connected directly to the slide contact and the earth lead and is connected to a display (13). ADVANTAGE - The test method provides rapid and quantitative estimation of the coating quality and thus corrosion protection at plate edges.
