Abstract: A process for the production of flexible polyurethane foam by reacting (a) unmodified and/or modified isocyanate compounds with (b) high-mol. wt. compounds with at least 2 reactive hydrogen atoms and optionally (c) low-mol. wt. chain extenders and/or crosslinkers, in presence of (d) blowing agents, (e) catalysts, (f) fire retardants and optionally (g) other additives etc. In this process, component (a) comprises prepolymers obtained by reaction of (a1) polyester-polyols and/or polyether-ester-polyols with (a2) aromatic diisocyanates, followed by a special after-treatment.

Abstract: Production of compact or cellular polyurethanes (I) containing oligo- and/or polysaccharide involves reacting (a) high molecular compounds with at least 2 reactive hydrogen atoms with (b) organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates, optionally in the presence of (c) chain extenders and/or crosslinking agents, (d) blowing agents, (e) catalysts and (f) ancillaries. The high molecular compounds (a) comprise (a1) 1-99 wt.% polyol(s) and/or polyoxyalkylene polyamine(s) and (a2) 1-99 wt.% polyester-polyol component (II) obtained by reacting (a21) 10-99 wt.% polyester-polyol(s) (III) with (a22) 1-90 wt.% oligo- and/or polysaccharides (IV), before, during or after production of (III). Also claimed are (I) produced in this way and mouldings made from (I).

Abstract: Prepn of polyesterpolyols by polycondensation of multifunctional carboxylic acids with multifunctional alcohols is effected in the following 2 stages: (1) condensation at 150-250[deg]C under normal pressure or in a vacuum of up to 10 mbar to a prod. with acid number 2-10 mg KOH/g; and (2) addn. of an esterification catalyst and condensation at 250-290 (pref 260-275)[deg]C and under a vacuum of 1-50 mbar. Also claimed is prepn of opt foamed polyurethanes from polyisocyanates, polyols of mol wt 400-10,000 and opt also low mol chain extenders, blowing agents etc, with the polyol being obtd as per stages (1) and (2) above.
