Abstract: Polyformaldehyde with its end groups esterified or etherified is stabilized by the addition of 0,05 to 10% of its weight of a hydrazone of formula in which R1, R2 and R3 are alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl radicals which may be substituted and R1 and R2 together may be a divalent aliphatic radical which may also contain hetero atoms. One or more polyamides, preferably in amount 0,1 to 10% of the polyformaldehyde may also be present. Solvents such as acetone, petroleum ether benzene, carbon tetrachloride, methanol and ethanol may be used.
