Heading B1Q [Also in Division C3] In apparatus for continuously contacting polyamide particles with an extraction agent, e.g. H 2 O or C 1-4 alkanols, flowing from bottom to top of an elongated extraction zone, some or all of the agent is removed in the upper part of the zone at a point and reintroduced above or below. The length of the zone, if of circular cross-section, is preferably 5-40 times the diameter. Agent removed may pass through a heater or cooler before reintroduction. Dimensions of the apparatus are exemplified.
