Abstract: 1287216 Photo-polymerizable materials BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 30 Jan 1970 [1 Feb 1969] 4547/70 Heading G2C A photo-polymerizable material for producing printing plates comprises a support which; or is coated with a layer which, reflects at least 40% of incident light and a layer comprising a polymeric binder, a monomer or momomers of which all or the major portion contain more than one polymerizable double bond, a photo-initiator, a metal complex dye and optionally a polymerization inhibitor the binder, monomer(s), photoinitiator and dye all being soluble in an organic solvent in which the polymer from the monomer(s) is insoluble. A polyamide is the preferred polymeric binder and the preferred dyes are chromium or copper complexes of azo and azomethine dyes and copper phthalocyanine dyes. The preferred support is a support coated with a reflective polyurethane paint. The material is imagewise exposed and developed to produce a relief plate; if the dye is omitted no useful plate is obtained as the unexposed areas become polymerized due to the reflective support.
