    Abstract: Copying film with a dimensionally stable base (T) transparent to actinic light in the wavelength region from 300 to 420 nm, and with a mask-forming layer (MS) which is sensitive to thermal radiation and contains a thermochromic system which, on irradiation with an IR laser of a wavelength greater than 1.09 mu m, irreversibly changes its absorption spectrum in the wavelength region from 300 to 420 nm in such a way that the optical density of the mask-forming layer (MS) in this wavelength region changes by at least 1.3 units. The base of the copying film can also have been applied to the light-sensitive, relief-forming layer (RS) of a light-sensitive recording material, forming a multi-layer image-recording material. By means of imagewise thermal irradiation, for example with an IR laser, a UV photomask, which is very suitable for the exposure of light-sensitive recording materials, is obtained in the mask-forming layer (MS) of the copying film.
