Abstract: A process for the production of linear, alternating carbon monoxide copolymers (I) comprises copolymerization of a 2-20C olefinically unsaturated compound (II) and carbon monoxide in the presence of a metal complex of formula whereby a further 2-20C olefinically unsaturated compound that is different to the first compound is added during the reaction in at least two separate doses. A process for the production of linear, alternating carbon monoxide copolymers (I) comprises copolymerization of a 2-20C olefinically unsaturated compound (II) and carbon monoxide in the presence of: (A) a metal complex of formula (1); (B) optionally a protonic or Lewis acid; and (C) optionally a hydroxy compound whereby a further 2-20C olefinically unsaturated compound (III) that is different to the compound (II) is added during the reaction in at least two separate doses. Independent claims are included for: (i) the resulting carbon monoxide copolymer (I); (ii) fiber , film or molded articles containing the copolymer (I).
