Abstract: Method for simulation of mass transport controlled separation processes in which a core-film layer is used to describe a mass exchange taking place at a phase border (P). According to the approach, an iterative solution of an implicit differential equation system is undertaken for discretization of an observed transfer area (10) of the core-film layer, from which the differential equation system, especially based on the Stefan-Maxwell equation, is generated. An independent claim is made for a device for simulation of mass transport controlled separation processes in which a core-film layer is used to describe a mass exchange taking place at a phase border.

Abstract: Removing acid gases comprising at least 50 mole% hydrogen sulfide from a fluid stream comprises contacting the fluid stream with a liquid absorbent, separating the loaded absorbent into an acid gas stream at 3-30 bar and a regenerated absorbent stream by heating and optionally expansion or stripping, cooling the regenerated absorbent by heat exchange with the loaded absorbent, and recycling the regenerated absorbent to the absorption step.
