Abstract: The video tape recorder system for use with colour t.v. cameras comprises a camera with a charge-coupled-device matrix and clock pulse driver (TG) and tape mechanism (M). The tape mechanism is synchronised to the rester scan via a phase comparator (P). The line capacity of the charge-coupled storage matrix is less than for a standard system. The scanning frequency is correspondingly reduced by this factor, e.g. 1/3rd and the speed of the tape transport during recording is also reduced by this factor. By using a storage matrix of 200 X 800 storage positions, a tape speed of 1, 33 metre/sec is possible. On playback, the video information is scanned at n-times frequency to obtain the full 5,5 MHz bandwidth.
