Abstract: A 2-aryl-4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine in conc. H2SO4 is treated with nitrosylsulphuric acid at 80-160 degrees C and the reaction mixture poured into water. In an example 2-phenyl-4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine in conc. H2SO4 was treated with nitrosylsulphuric acid in conc. H2SO4 at 140 degrees C, cooled to 70 degrees C and poured into ice-water to obtain an 88% yield of 2-phenyl-4,6-dihydroxy-1,3,5-triazine.

Abstract: Compounds, used to impart hydrophobic properties to textiles, wood, paper, leather and polymers, have the formula:- (in which RF is a C3-11 perfluoroalkyl; X is H, a lower alkyl, or the group (CpH2p-Y m-Z; Z is -CO-C(R)=CH2, -SO2-C(R)=CH2, -CO-(CH2)n-Cl or -CH2-CH2- Y is O or NH; R is H or CH3; m and l represent 0 or 1; n and p are integers from 2 to 5). These compounds can be produced by known methods from the corresponding derivs. of hydrazine, perfluorocarboxylic acids, lactones or lactams, and ethyleneimine.
