Abstract: Air-stable, electrically conductive systems having conductivities greater than 1x10-3 OMEGA -1cm-1 are prepared by reacting a metal cation of an element of sub-group VII, VIII or I of the periodic table with a 1,9-substituted phenalene of the general formula (I) (I) where X is O, NH, S, Se or Te and Y is OH, NH2 or SH, to give a metal chelate, and oxidizing this metal chelate by means of an organic electron acceptor. The electrically conductive systems can be used in the electrical industry for the production of solar cells and for converting and fixing radiation, for producing electric and magnetic switches and electrochemical stores, and for the antistatic treatment of plastics.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of homopolymers and copolymers of acetylene by homopolymerisation or copolymerisation of acetylene with dialkynes or polyalkynes or substituted alkynes with the aid of a metal-containing catalyst combination, where the catalyst combination used is a mixture of aluminium hydride and/or magnesium hydride or complex hydrides thereof and organic derivatives of metals of sub-group IV of the Periodic Table of the Elements. In the process, metal carbonyls can be added to the catalyst combinations. The mixing ratio between the hydrides of complex hydrides and the metal derivatives is expediently between 1:1 and 1:20 mole parts and the mixing ratio between metal carbonyls and the hydride component is from 0.5:1 to 1:0.5 parts by weight.
