Ortho-substituted benzyl esters of cyclopropanecarboxylic acids I (X = N, CH> where A is one of the following cyclopropane radicals: (R is CN, C2-C8-alkyl, CF3, C3-C8-alkenyl, C1-C4-alkoxycarbonyl, optionally substituted phenyl-C1-C6-alkyl or phenyl-C3-C6-alkenyl, ethoxyphenyl, 2- or 3-bromophenyl, 2- or 4-trifluoromethylphenyl, 2,4- or 2,6-difluorophenyl, 2-fluoro-6-chlorophenyl, 2,4- or 2,6-dimethylphenyl, 2,3,6-trichlorophenyl, trimethylsilyl; R is H or halogen; R is optionally substituted phenyl; R is CH3 or halogen; Hal is halogen), with the proviso that X is CH when R is CF3 or trimethylsilyl. The compounds I are suitable as fungicides and for controlling pests.
