Abstract: New Monoazo dyes of 2,6-diaminopyridine series contg. CN gps., are of formula (I) In the formula, X is carbamoyl or sulphamoyl, opt. N-substd. with 1-2C alkyl or alkoxy, NO2, CN, F, CF3, Cl, Br, methyl- or ethyl-sulphonyl, phenyl sulphonyl, formyl, acetyl, benzoyl, acetylamino or benzoylamino, or is phenylazo substd. with SO3H, or is 1-6C alkyl sulphonyl, phenyl sulphonyl or benzoyl. Y is H, Cl, methyl, methoxy, ethoxy, acetylamino or propionyl-amino, or with X may form a condensed benzene ring opt. substd. with SO3H, or a gp. (II). Z is H, Cl, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, SO3H or COOH; n is 1 or 2; R is H or 1-3C alkyl; A is CN or carbamoyl; R1 is H or a (cyclo)aliphatic araliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic gp.; R2 is H or an aliphatic gp.) Used for the dyeing or printing of polyesters, and of polyamides if SO3H gps. are present. Also for bulk colouring of plastics.
