Abstract: Oxalkylated polyamines containing amide groups which are suitable as demulsifiers for crude oil and are obtainable by condensation of dicarboxylic acids having 3 to 20 carbon atoms or functional derivatives thereof with polyalkylene-polyamines having at least 2 carbon atoms and at least 2 amino groups and reacting the reaction product with a total of from 1 to 200 mol/mol of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide and/or 1,2-butylene oxide.

Abstract: Copolymers (I) of hydrophobic (meth)acrylic esters (II) of mixts. of polyglycols and polyglycol ethers, with hydrophilic unsatd. comonomers (III) are claimed, in which most of the free OH gps. are etherified, esterified or converted into urethane gps., and/or the acid esterification catalyst is neutralised with amine. More specifically, (II) are obtd. by reaction of (meth) acrylic acid with alkoxylates of formula R1-O-(AO)x-H (IV), using an entraining agent to remove the water. R1=residue of alcohol, alkylphenol or a condensation prod. thereof with formaldehyde or acetaldehyde; AO=ethylene-, propylene- or 1,2-butylene-oxide residue or mixts. or blocks thereof; x=5-120. Partial etherification etc. as above is carried out before or after copolymerisation; pref. amine is tert. amine; pref. (III) have the formula R2CH=CR3R4, R2=H, COOH, COOC2H4OH, COOC2H4NEt2, CONH2, CN, Ph, OCOMe, CH2OH, NHCHO, COMe, COOEt, N-imidazolyl or N-pyrrolidinonyl; R3=H or COOH; R4=H or Me; at least one of R2 or R3 is a hydrophilic gp. Wt. ratio (IV):(III) is from 300:1 to 1:50. The process is claimed as such. OH gps. can be reacted with, e.g. MeI; Ac2O, etc. using H2SO4, etc. as catalyst; or PhNCO. Amine is e.g. Et3N, Bu3N, etc. (IV) is obtd. e.g. from EtOH, Bisphenol A, nonylphenol, etc. with alkylene oxide as above. (III) is e.g. (meth)acrylic acid, maleic anhydride, vinylpyrrolidone, etc.

Abstract: Polyethers with are suitable as oil demulsifiers are obtainable by reacting (A) a polyalkylene oxide obtained from ethylene oxide and propylene oxide and containing in total from 5 to 200 alkylene oxide units with (B) an alkylolation product of a low molecular weight aldehyde and a bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-methane of the general formula II wherein R1 and R2 may be identical or different and are each hydrogen, low molecular weight alkyl, phenyl, carboxyl or low molecular weight alkoxycarbonyl, the molar reaction ratio of the compound of the formula II to the alkylolating aldehyde being from 1:1 to 1:4, at from 100 DEG to 180 DEG C. in the presence of an acidic catalyst with removal of the water of reaction, the weight ratio of A to B being from 5:1 to 1:3.
