Abstract: Method for transmitting shear stresses by rotary and/or translatory movements of three-dimensional surfaces moving relative to one another with shear-thickening fluids situated between them, in which both critical and subcritical shear velocity regions are adjusted simultaneously over the length of a shear gap filled with a shear-thickening fluid, fluid subjected to subcritical shear stress being continuously transported into the region containing fluid subjected to critical shear stress by the movement of the shear surfaces relative to one another.
