    Abstract: Granulation of ammonium or potassium sulphate by incorporation in the sulphates to be granulated, of calcium derivatives capable of forming double salts with the sulphates contg. 0.6-9% CaO and >=8% of water based on the wt. of sulphate to be granulated. The granules which are formed are dried in two stages, first at 60-80 degrees C, secondly at 100-105 degrees C. The granular sulphates are used as fertilisers. The new process gives good yields of granules with increased hardness from fine particles of sulphates. Typically, ammonium sulphate with a particle size of 0.5 mm was mixed with a molten mass of Ca(NO3)2. 4H2O and water to give a content of 12.4% water and 1.3% CaO. The mixture was granulated at 30 degrees C, dried at 70 degrees C, then at 105 degrees to give a granule resistance of 3.8 kg.
