Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 1-alkene/α,ω-diene copolymer having a high viscosity inder and usable as a viscosity improver for lubricants and engine oils. SOLUTION: A copolymer comprising 99.0 to 99.99wt.% 2-20C 1-alkene and 0.01 to 1.0wt.% 5-20C α,ω-diene having isolated double bonds, and having a viscosity index (VI) of at least 160. The copolymer can be produced by the polymn. in gas phase, suspension phase, solution phase or liquid monomer. The solution polymn. and liquid monomer polymn. are particularly pref. The polymn. is usually conducted at -50 to 300 deg.C under 0.5 to 3,000 bars. The copolymer is pref. produced in the presence of a catalyst compsn. contg. a metallocene complex salt and a metallocenium ion-forming compd. as the active components.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing linear alpha olefins by means of an isomerising metathetical reaction and ensuing ethenolysis. The method comprises the following steps: i) a C4-C10 olefin fraction is introduced into an isomerising metathesis reaction; ii) the mixture obtained is separated into a) a C2-C3-olefin fraction, b) a fraction containing olefins having the desired carbon count, c) a light fraction containing olefins having a carbon count of C4 or above, but below the carbon count of the desired fraction b) and, d) a heavy fraction containing olefins having a carbon count which is above the carbon count of the desired fraction b); iii) the light fraction c) and optionally the heavy fraction d) are redirected into the isomerising metathesis reaction i); iv) the fraction b) and optionally the fraction d) are introduced into an ethenolysis reaction; and v) the alpha olefin fraction produced in iv) is isolated. Linear C8-C12 alpha olefins can be especially produced using said method.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing a polyether compound containing a polymer provided with a polyether chain whose maximum content of alkylene oxide repeated units of oxides, the derivatives of branched olefins and/or olefins devoid of double liaisons alpha and linear alpha -olefins. Said invention also relates to polyether compounds produced by the inventive method and to the use thereof when they are added to fuels or lubricants.

The invention relates to oligodecenes which are obtained by oligomerisation of linear 1-decene, whereby up to 40 mol %, in relation to the quantity of linear 1-decene, of other linear C8-C12-1-alkenes can be included by polymerization, in the presence of a titanium, zirconium or hafnium metallocene catalyst and an activator on a basis of aluminium-organic, boron-organic or carbo-cationic compounds, and which have possibly been hydrogenated following oligomerisation. Said oligodecenes have a number average molecular weight of between 500 and 200,000. The invention further relates to their use as components in lubricants, especially motor oils and transmission oils.
