Abstract: The cpds. have formula: xM2/nO.Al2O3.ySiO2.zBeO.wH2O (where m is an interchangeable cation of valency n; x = 0.9-2.6; y = 4.6-10; z = 0.01-1.5; w = 0-7) and have X-ray diffraction pattern with at least the following d-values is angstrom (tolerance on first four values plus-or-minus 0.10; on remainder plus-or-minus 0.05) 11.8; 6.8; 5.00; 4.44; 3.92; 3.40; 3.11; 2.95; 2.90; 2.57; 2.26; 2.06; 1.89; 1.79; 1.70. The pref. prodn. process uses a mixt. of compsn. BeO/Al2O3 = 0.01-0.5; SiO2/Al2O3 = 6-14; Na2O/SiO2 = 0.2-0.6; H2O/Na2O = 30-85; this mixt. is heated at 70-130 degrees C. under press. until a solid crystalline product is obtd. which is sepd., washed and dried. Beryllium zeolites with structure of the gmelinite-chabazite type, suitable for ion-exchange, molecular sieves, catalysts esp. as a substitute for pure alumino-silicates.
