    Abstract: Nylons are prepared by a continuous process in which, in a precondensation zone, an aqueous solution of a salt of a dicarboxylic acid of 6 to 18 carbon atoms and a diamine of 6 to 18 carbon atoms is heated to 250 DEG -300 DEG C. under superatmospheric pressure, with simultaneous vaporization of water and formation of a prepolymer, the prepolymer and the vapor are separated, and the former is fed into a polycondensation zone and condensed under superatmospheric pressure of from 1 to 10 bar and at from 250 DEG to 300 DEG C., wherein the aqueous salt solution is condensed under superatomspheric pressure of from 1 to 10 bar in the first third of the tubular precondensation zone provided with baffles, until the degree of conversion is not less than 93%, and the prepolymer and the vapor phase are brought into intimate contact with one another in the remaining two thirds of the precondensation zone.

    Abstract: Prodn. of polyamides (I) comprises polymerisation or polycondensation of monomers in presence of triacetone- diamine cpd(s) of formula (II), where R is H, 1-20C hydrocarbyl, pref. 1-18C alkyl, or benzyl. Also claimed are (i) inherently light-stabilised polyamides (I) with amine residues derived by removing H from the NH2 gp. of (II) chemically bonded to the polymer chain; (ii) a process for the prodn. of polycaprolactam-based filaments from (I), by high-speed spinning with take-off speeds of at least 4000 m/min.; (iii) filaments obtd. by this process; and (iv) fibres and textile sheets produced from the filaments.

    Abstract: Filaments with a relative viscosity RV of 2.0 to 3.0 (measured at a concentration of 1 g of fibres per 100 ml in a 96 wt % sulphuric acid) based on polycaprolactam, obtainable by: (a) extruding a melt consisting essentially of caprolactam through a spinning nozzle to form caprolactam filaments; (b) cooling the filaments thus produced and (c) drawing the cooled filaments off at a rate of at least [3600 + 1250.(3.0 - RV)] m/min, the polycaprolactam used being produced in the presence of at least one bicarboxylic acid from the group: C4-C10-alkane bicarboxylic acids, C5-C8-cycloalkane bicarboxylic acids, benzole and naphthaline bicarboxylic acids which may have up to two sulphonic acid groups and whose carboxylic acid groups are not adjacent, N-C1-C6-alkyl-N,N-di(C4-C10-alkane carboxylic acid)amine, 1,4-piperazine-di(C1-C10-alkane carboxylic acid), and a process for producing these filaments, their use for the production of fibers and flat products, and fibres and flat products made of these filaments.
