Abstract: In a non-return valve on the screw head of a thermoplastic-processing screw injection moulding machine, a non-return element (8) is guided freely displaceably in an axial bore (6). On the inner wall of the axial bore (6) and/or on the shaft (10) of the non-return element (8) longitudinal grooves (14) are located, via which plasticated plastic can flow out of the gap between the sealing surfaces (12 and 13). In this manner, the precision of injection moulding machines is increased by an improved closing behaviour of the non-return valve and simultaneously the closing action of the non-return element is made faster.
