Abstract: Salts of formula (I) (where R1 is H, halogen, NO2 or alkyl; Y is -CH2CH2-or -CH2CH2CH2- in which one or more of the H-atoms can be replaced by a 1-4 C alkyl residue; R2 is mono- or polynuclear carboncyclic aryl or benozyl which may be mono- or polysubstd., or a heterocyclic residue; and X circled negative is a monovalent anion) and the corresp. free bases, e.g. 2-/2-(alpha-hydroximinobenzoylthio)-phenyl/-2-imidazoline hydrochloride, are new cpds. which may be prepd. by reacting a spiro cpd. of formula (II) with a hydroxamic acid chloride of the formula R2-CCl=N-OH (III) and opt. converting the acid addn. salt obtd. into the free base. (I) are useful as pharmaceuticals, hypertensive, sympathomimetic, CNS, anti-inflammatory and diuretic effects have been observed in pharmacological screening. (I) are also useful as textile adjuvants, e.g. as anistatic agents, as well as rubber additives, e.g. as vulcanization accelerators, (I) are also useful as intermediates for biologically active cpds.; thus, in the presence of acidic dehydrating agents they may be cyclized to 1,3-diazacycloalkeno/1,2-d/-benzo/f/-1,3,4-thiadiazepines.
