    Abstract: Described is a method of preparing aldehydes, or aldehydes and alcohols, by the hydroformylation of olefins with more than three carbon atoms, the method including a hydroformylation stage in which the olefin is hydroformylated at a pressure of 50 to 1,000 bar and a temperature of 50 to 180 DEG C by means of a rhodium catalyst dissolved in a homogeneous reaction medium and a catalyst-recovery stage in which the rhodium catalyst is extracted using an aqueous solution of a complexing agent, the alcohol and/or alkdehyde is isolated from the extracted hydroformylation products, the aqueous rhodium-containing extract is carbonylated in the presence of carbon monoxide, synthesis gas or a gas mixture containing carbon monoxide at a pressure of 50 to 1,000 bar and a temperature of 50 to 180 DEG C, the carbonylation products separated into an organic phase containing most of the rhodium and an aqueous phase containing the complexing agent and the organic phase is fed back to the hydroformylation stage, the rhodium catalyst obtained from the products of the hydroformylation stage being extracted with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer, without any sulphonic acid groups, capable of forming a complex with rhodium.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing phosphabenzene compounds of general formulas (I) and (II) wherein R to R , independent of one another, represent hydrogen, COOM, SO3M, NR3X, NR2, OR, COOR or SR with M = hydrogen, NH4 or alkaline metal, X = anion, R = hydrogen or C1-6 alkyl, or C1-12 alkyl, C6-12 aryl, C7-12 alkylaryl or C3-6 heterocycloalkyl with 1 to 3 heteroatoms which can be substituted with the prominent residuals or bonded to annulated rings; and -W- signifies a bridge comprised of a covalent bond, an oxo group, a sulfur group, an amino group, a Di-C1-6 alkyl silicium group, or a C1-16 residual which can be a component of one or more bonded cyclic or aromatic nuclei and can be interrupted by 1 to 3 heteroatoms. Each o-position or m-position of the phosphabenzene nuclei which is not bonded on said bridge can carry one of the residuals R to R with the exception of bis-3,3'(3(2,4,6-triphenylphosphabenzene)-1,1'-diphenyl. Corresponding pyrylium salts are reacted with PH3 in the presence of a catalytic quantity of acid and in the presence or absence of a solvent or diluting agent. The pyrylium salts are brought together with PH3 at a temperature above 0 DEG C and are reacted at a temperature ranging from above 0 DEG C up to 200 DEG C and with a pressure above 1 bar.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing n-butyraldehyde and/or n-butanol, whereby a) 1.3 butadiene or hydrocarbon mixtures containing butadiene are reacted with an alcohol of the formula (I) ROH wherein the radical R is an unsubstituted C2- to C20-alkyl- or alkenyl- or a C2- to C20-alkyl- or alkenyl- substituted with 1 to 2 C1- to C10-alkoxy- or hydroxy groups, a C6- to C10-aryl- or a C7- to C11- arylkyl group or methyl group at a high temperature and under high pressure in the presence of a bronsted acid or in the presence of a complex of an element from group IA, VIIA or VIIIA of the periodic table of elements with ligands containing phosphor or nitrogen to form a mixture of adducts of formulae (II) and (III); b) isomerizing adduct (III) to adduct (II); c) converting adduct (III) into acetal of formula (IV) in the presence of a sufficient quantity of an alcohol ROH I to form acetal (IV) and a homogeneous or heterogeneous transitional metal element catalyst which is different from dicobaltoctacarbonyl or hydridocobalttetracarbonyl in the liquid phase in essentially water-free conditions and d) then reacting this acetal (IV) with hydrogen and water or water in the presence of a homogenous or heterogeneous transitional metal element catalyst which is different from dicobaltoctacarbonyl or hydridocobalttetracarbonyl in liquid phase to produce n-butyraldehyde and/or n-butanol and releasing the alcohol ROH I and returning the released alcohol ROH I to the reaction in accordance with partial reaction a) and/or c).
