Abstract: A process for strengthening river embankments by means of dams or dikes with application of at least one polyurethane compact to the mineral material on the embankment surface, involving the steps:(a) mixing a component with isocyanate groups with a component having groups reactive to isocyanates and (b) appliction of the free-flowing mixture from step (a) to the mineral material on the embankment surface is new. Independent claims are included for: (1) a compact hydrophobic polyurethane obtainable by reaction of:(i) polyisocyanates with (ii) compounds with at least two H atoms reactive to isocyanates where compounds (ii) contain at least one fat chemical (sic) polyol and at least one aromatic hydrocarbon resin modified by phenol; (2) a shaped compact polyurethane body and a mineral material where the polyurethane is a compact hydrophobic polyurethane; (3) river embankments, especially dams and dikes, where the stone surface is bonded to at least one compact polyurethane.
