Abstract: The reaction is carried out between at least 2 moles carbonyl cpd. (I) with 1 mole acetylene or at least 1 mole (I) per mole of an acetylene alcohol elevated temp and pressure in the presence of a catalyst. The catalyst is an ion exchange polymer contg. a quaternary group, activated during reaction with a compound having alkali metal or alkaline earth metal ions together with a complementary, exchangeable ion which catalyses the reaction.
