Abstract: A process for the preparation of a tetralin derivative of the formula where X is a -CH2-, -CH(OH)- or -CO- group, R1 is one of the groups -COCH3, -CH(OR3)2 or -CHO, R2 is hydrogen or methyl and R3 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, by electrochemical oxidation of a compound of the formula where R4 is methyl or ethyl and X and R2 have the abovementioned meanings, and novel tetralin derivatives.

Abstract: Se describe un procedimiento para la obtencion de aminoácidos N-Z-protegidos, N-metilados de la formula I: donde los sustituyentes tienen los significados indicados en la descripcion. El procedimiento consiste en mezclar un compuesto de la formula II, con una solucion de terc-butanolato de potasio en un disolvente orgánico no protico, y luego se agrega un haluro de alquilo con 1 a 2 átomos de carbono.
