    Abstract: Dyes containing at least one polymerisable olefinic group, cross-linking compounds containing at least two such groups or one such group and a condensable group, and optionally other polymerisable vinyl compounds are, after impregnation as an aqueous solution or dispersion in a textile material (see Division D1), polymerized by an initiator. Suitable components are: azo and anthraquinone dyes containing a vinyl ether, vinyl ester, vinylsulphonic, acrylic ester, maleic amide or acrylamide group; crosslinking compounds - N, N1, N11-triacryloylhexahydrotriazine (a), 1, 4-butanediol diacrylate (b) and amides or methylolamides, e.g. acrylamide (c); vinyl compounds-vinyl esters, ethers and ketones, acrylic esters, acrylonitrile, vinylpyrolidone, styrene. Specified dyes are shown in formulae (I)-(IV). The following combinations of monomers are used in Examples: (I)+(b); (II)+(a) or (b) or (b)+(c); (III)+(b)+(c); (IV)+(a)+(c). The emulsifier castor oil-40 moles ethylene oxide may be used.ALSO:Dyes of formulae and are prepared by reacting acryloyl chloride with, respectively, Disperse Orange (C.I. 11005), p - phenylenediamine --> 1 - (2 - chloro - 5 - sulphophenyl) - 3 - methylpyrazolone - (5), p - phenylenediamine --> 1 - naphthol and 1 - amino - 2 - sulpho - 4 - (4 - aminophenylamino) - anthraquinone.ALSO:Fibrous, e.g. textile material, is dyed by impregnating with an aqueous solution or dispersion of dyes which contain at least one polymerizable olefinic group and of crosslinking compounds which contain at least two polymerizable olefinic groups and/or a polymerizable olefinic group and a condensable group, optionally with other polymerizable vinyl compounds, and by polymerizing the monomers by an initiator applied to the material previously, at the same time or afterwards. After polymerization the material may be heat treated. Azo and anthraquinone dyes containing a vinyl ether, vinyl ester, vinylsulphonic, acrylic ester, maleic amide or acrylamide group are suitable. Crosslinking compounds mentioned are N, N1, N11-triacryloylhexahydrotriazine (a), 1, 4-butanediol diacrylate (b) and amides or methylolamids, e.g. acrylamide (c). Vinyl compounds include vinyl esters, ethers and ketones, acrylic esters, acrylonitrile vinylpyrrolidone and styrene. Specified dyes are shown in formulae (I), (IV). Materials are monomers utilized in the examples are:- (1) dye (I), b (cotton); (2) dye (II), a (cotton); (3) dye (II), b (regenerated cellulose); (4) dye (III), b, c (polycaproloctam, polyacrylonitrile, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate); (5) dye (II), b, c (cotton); (6) dye (II), b (regenerated cellulose); (7) dye (IV), a, c (cotton). The monomers may be applied with the aid of the emulsifier castor oil-40 moles ethylene oxide.
