Abstract: Radical polymerisation of vinyl chloride uses an aqueous suspension containing stopper and also an organic, water-miscible liquid of b.pt. 30-90 deg C. Radical polymerisation of vinyl chloride in aqueous suspension at 20-100 deg C and 5-30 bar involves adding a 10-50 wt.% aqueous suspension of a sterically hindered phenol of mol. wt. above 300 as stopper, to give 0.01-0.2 wt.% phenol and containing 5-15 pts. wt., per 100 pts. wt. suspension, of an organic, water-miscible liquid of b.pt. 30-90 deg C.
