    Abstract: Feedstuffs are prepared consisting of carbohydrates and proteins, using formose as carbohydrate source mixed with protein-contg. powder, opt. with an additional carbamoyl groups-contg. compound as well as minerals, fillers and/or vitamins. The mixture is then granulated in known ways. The mixtures are used as feedstuffs and are suitable for fattening cattle. Formose is a synthetic product with high nutrient value without toxicity. Formose is prepd. by condensing formaldehyde in aq. or alcoholic solution with addition of base such as CaO. The protein-contg. powders may be soya flour, fish-meal, green algae or also mineral oil fermentation products etc. Urea is pref. added as carbamoyl-contg. substance. Commercial products are added to supply minerals, trace-elements, vitamins etc. Fillers may be cellulose, lignine etc. in the form of lucern meal with addition of 24-30% crude fibre. Pref. feedstuff mixes contain 70-30%, esp. 40-50% formose, pref. 60-50% protein powder, 0.5-0.6% urea, 8-20% ballast or filler and 0.2-2% vitamin concentrate. Flow-improving agents such as bolus alba etc. are added.

[Also in Division B5] Radiant heaters 17 (Fig. 1) fuse the ends of laterally disposed tubular blanks gripped between opposed pairs 6 of endless conveyers by which they are carried over slide rails 3 whose spacing may be adjusted. In the form shown the conveyers consist of chains (6) (Fig. 2, not shown) equipped with straps (6b) gripping the blanks and guided by rails (8) . . . (11) cooled by watercooled bars (12). The heaters are radiant quartz tube heaters. The fused portions are subsequently cooled by endless steel bands (27) (Fig. 3, not shown) backed by water-cooled members (29) and engaging portions of the blanks partly protected from the radiant heat by being disposed in the gap (13) (Fig. 2, not shown) between the guides (10), (11). The fused portions are then formed by grooved rollers (41), (42) (Fig. 4, not shown). The forming rollers (41), (42), and the rollers carrying the cooling bands (27), (28) are biased against adjustable stops set in accordance with the thickness of the blanks. Before entering the heated region the ends of the blanks are trimmed by a rotary member 44. The spacing of the heaters 17 from the conveyers may be adjusted, and the heaters are preferably nearer to the conveyer at one end than at the other. The spacing between the slide rails 3 may be varied by a crank 5 controlling lazy tongs 4.

    Abstract: The sheet metal casks and the like are made of coated steel sheets. After the deformation of the sheets and welding of the edge zones, free from coating, of the steel sheets to a cask body, the uncoated zone of the cask body is uniformly heated to a temperature of 230-350 DEG C and is lined internally and/or externally with a plasticised plastic. To obtain good adhesion to the substrate: -low-stress active material is used -the sheet metal of the weld seam zones is brought to comparable temperatures before the coating, and -after the molten band has been applied it is acted on with pressure. The uniform course of the temperature over the whole length of the weld zone (tempering), and also the use of low-stress plastics, largely prevents the occurrence of stresses leading to peeling.
