Abstract: - Continuous concentration of dilute aqueous solutions of hydroxycarboxylic acids (I) comprises (a) extracting (I) with an optimised extractant system of an organic solvent (II) and an alkylamine (III); (b) distilling (II) from the extract; and (c) extracting (I) from the residue as water-soluble salt with an aqueous ammonia or alkylamine (IV) solution.
