Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an improved method to obtain a very fine particle of water-insoluble dye or drug by using a least amount of solvent. CONSTITUTION: In a process for producing a fine-particle, essentially amorphous dye or drug preparation by converting a relatively coarse-particle dispersion or an organic solution into a colloidal dispersion phase in water, the colloidal dispersion of dye or drug, or the organic solution is mixed and stirred with water or aqueous protective colloid solution at a temperature higher than a melting point of the dye or the drug, or under pressure at need. The obtained melting emulsion is immediately spray-dried or converted into a suspension by cooling.
