Abstract: Preparation of formic acid by hydrolysis of formamide with water and sulphuric acid, followed by drying of the resulting moist mixture mainly consisting of ammonium sulphate and formic acid in a rotary kiln, by using in this process 0.517 to 0.541 mol of sulphuric acid per mole of formamide.
