Abstract: and Co-catalysts which are highly active and mechanically stable are obtd. by dissolving-out with alkali at raised temp. the inactive component from Raney-alloys which have been prepd. from phases of Ni or Co (or mixts. with the inactive component), and which additionally contain carbides of the active metals. The catalysts are used for the hydrogenation of cyclic imino-ethers to cyclic amines which are inters. for herbicides and pharmaceuticals.

Abstract: A quenching bath for treating metals comprises a 0.5-20 wt. % thermosensitive polymer dispersion having pH =4 and the polymer particle having Tg -30-+10 degrees C. The dispersion is thermosensitised by the addition of oxyalkylated amines or ammonia having inverse solubility (Thermosensitive dispersion is one which coagulates on heating). The metals are quenched and coated with an excellent temporary anticorrosion coating simultaneously.
