Abstract: The invention relates to compounds of the general formula in which R is a methyl group, methoxy group or butinyl group. The compounds may be prepared by reaction of appropriate isocyanates with the appropriate amines in inert or aqueous solvents, or from the amines with the appropriate carbamic acid derivatives dissolved in a hydrocarbon and in the presence of an acid-binding agent or a catalyst. Appropriate amines are obtained as mixtures of isomers by reacting 4,5,6,7,8,9-hexahydro-4,7-methanoindene with hydrocyanic acid in the presence of sulphuric acid and subsequent hydrolysis of the resultant formamide.ALSO:Herbicidal compositions comprise as active ingredient compounds of the general formula in which R is a methyl, methoxy or butinyl group, together with solid or liquid carriers. Other herbicidal compounds, e.g. urea derivatives, triazines, pyridazone derivatives, carbamates, thio carbamates, uracil derivatives or borates may also be included.
