    Abstract: Azamethine dyes of formula (I) are new, wherein K = a carboxylic or heterocyclic residue; X = N or C-Q and Q , Q and Q = H, 1-6 C alkyl which may be interrupted by 1 or 2 ether O atoms, benzyl, 3-8 C cycloalkyl, 1-4 C fluoroalkyl, opt. substd. phenyl, 1-6 C alkoxy, benzyloxy, opt. substd. phenoxy, 1-6 C alkylthio, halogen, CN, formylamino or a residue of formula R , -CO-OR , -CO-NHR , -CO-NH-CO-R , -CO-NH-CO-R , -CO-NH-SO2R , -NH-CO-R , -NH-CO-NR R , -NH-CS-OR , -NH-CS-NR R , -NH-CO-R , -NH-SO -R , -NH-SO -R or -NH-SO2-NR R in which R and R = 1-3 C alkyl which is opt. substd., 3-8 C cycloalkyl, opt. substd. phenyl or -NR R including amino; R = 5- or 6- membered non-aromatic heterocyclic residue which may be benzoanellated and which contains one or more heteroatoms chosen from N, O and S; and R4 = a 5- or 6- membered heterocyclic residue which is opt. benzoanellated and which contains one or more heteroatoms chosen from N, O and S, or Q and Q together may complete a 5- or 6-membered carboxylic or heterocyclic ring, with the proviso that at least one of Q , Q and Q = a gp. R .

    Abstract: A method for cooling dispersions or liquids (D/L) after a deodorising process comprising (a) passing steam through the D/L in a boiler (1), causing it to foam, (b) taking the foam from the top of the boiler into an evacuated separator (4) through a jet (5) and thus breaking the foam, (c) condensing the water vapour from the foam in a heat exchanger (8) and removing organic volatiles, and (d) returning the broken foam to (1). This process is continued until the D/L is deodorised to the required extent, then the hot D/L is cooled by transferring it from the bottom of (1) to the evacuated separator (4) via jet (5), the water vapour produced is condensed in (8) as before, and the cooled D/L is taken off at the bottom of (4).
