Abstract: Conical cuts, of specific size, angle and number, are made at one surface. Insulation for metal or plastic central heating pipes, comprise a closed cell (20-200 mm thick; b) foam slab. Conical cuts (depth = 60-98%) are made at one surface. The number of cuts, and the angle of the cut walls are set so that, when the slab is fitted round the pipe, it forms a closed and compact cylinder. Preferred Features: The outer (x) and inner (y) circumferences of the insulation are given by equations (1) and (2). pi \*x = a (1). pi \*y = EPSILON d (2). a = slab length d = widths of the remaining slab surfaces after the conical cuts The diameter of the insulation = 90-600 (150-400) mm.

Abstract: The insulation for multi-line pipes of metal or plastics, especially to carry heating media or hot water supplies, is a structure of two semi-cylinders (1) of a flexible and closed cell foam material. Their flat surfaces are cut to form semi-circular channels (2) to fit round the pipes. The two bodies are welded together (3) at one edge, so that they can be brought together to form a hollow cylinder structure.
