Abstract: A liquid preparation for coating base material and which is capable of combining with electron acceptors to yield colourings comprises a) at least one finely divided colour former (dye-forming component, chromogen), b) ethylene oxide adducts of C10/C20-alkanols with 10 to 100 mol of EO/mole or copolymers of (meth)acrylic esters of these EO adducts with further comonomers, c) polyethylene glycol of molecular weights between 10000 and 30000 and optionally e) a solid C1-C31-alkanol, f) further binders and g) further auxiliaries in water. The ratio of a):b):c):e) is (5 to 20):(5 to 15):100:(0 to 30) parts by weight. The base material coated with these preparations is white to colourless and on contact with electron acceptor solutions yields intensively coloured markings. The base material coated with these preparations can be used inter alia for the ink-jet printing process and for recording in recording (registration) equipment.

Abstract: The process applies microscopic capsules to paper etc. by a pressure system. The paper with the capsules is used for copying without the use of carbon paper. The capsules are pressed into the paper in the form of a watery dispersion or dye by means of a roller or plate coated with foam or cellular rubber, the latter having open cells ont he working side. Th design gives, compared with existing methods, a sufficient and even distribution of the capsules over the paper.

Abstract: A liquid preparation for coating base material and which gives a colour reaction with transition metal ions comprises a) at least one finely divided colourless or virtually colourless compound which contains at least one hydroxyl group and is capable of combining with ions of transition metals to form coloured complexes, b) ethylene oxide adducts of C10-C20-alkanols with 10 to 100 mol of EO/mol or copolymers of (meth)acrylic esters of these EO adducts with further comonomers, c) polyethylene glycol of molecular weights between 10000 and 30000 and optionally e) a solid C12-C31-alkanol, f) further binders and g) further auxiliaries in water, the ratio of a):b):c):e) being (10 to 50):(5 to 15):100:(0 to 30) parts by weight. The base material coated with these preparations is white or colourless and on contact with solutions of transition metal salts yields deeply coloured markings. The base material coated with these preparations can be used inter alia for the ink-jet printing process and for recording in recording (registration) equipment.

Abstract: A pressure-sensitive and heat-sensitive recording material which comprises a carrier bearing a color-developing coating consisting of (a) a finely divided solid phenolic resin with spherical particles of size where R1 is C8-C20-alkyl, phenyl or C1-C20-alkylphenyl, R2 is hydrogen or methyl, n is from 2 to 100 and m is from 0 to 50, and ( beta ) an ethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable carboxylic acid, sulfonic acid or phosphonic acid, with or without ( gamma ) an additional ethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable compound different from ( alpha ) and ( beta ), and (c) one or more aliphatic alcohols which are solid at room temperature, with or without (d) other auxiliaries. The coating, used in conjunction with micro-encapsulated color formers, gives sharp and intense copies.
