Abstract: Partly crosslinked polyolefin mixt. consists of: (a) a polymer of 25-97 wt.% propylene polymer (IA) contg. 0-15 wt.% copolymerised 2-10C alk-l-ene cpds. (II) and 3-75 wt.% propylene polymer (IB) contg. 15-80 wt.% copolymerised (III); (b) a random ethylene copolymer with 5-20 wt.% copolymerised 3-10C alk-l-ene cpds. and a density of 0.890-0.930 g/cc at room temp.; (c) a homogeneous mixt. of a high mol. polyisobutylene (IV) with an Mn of at least 80,000 and a polyolefin; and (d) a bis-maleimido cpd. of formula (V). In (V): R = 1-20C alkyl, opt. with ether O atom(s) in the chain, 5-7C cycloalkyl or 6-15C aryl, opt. with 1-10C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy and/or 1-4C dialkylamino substit(s).; or an R -Z-R gp.; R , R = 1-10C alkyl, 5-7C cycloalkyl or 6-10C aryl, opt. with 1-10C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy and/or 1-4C dialkylamino substit(s).; Z = 1-10C alkyl, 1-4C dialkylamino, -O- or -SO2-. Also claimed are: (i) a method for producing the mixt.; and (ii) films, fibres, mouldings and foam made from the mixt.

Abstract: Partially crosslinked polymer composition containing a) a polymer comprising from 25 to 95% by weight of polypropylene and from 5 to 75% by weight of a propylene copolymer containing copolymerized C2-C10-alk-1-enes, where the comonomer content is from 1 to 45% by weight, based on the total polymer, b) a random ethylene copolymer containing from 5 to 20% by weight of copolymerized C3-C10-alk-1-enes and having a density at room temperature of from 0.89 to 0.925 g/cm and c) an organosilane compound of the formula (I> A4-n-SiRn (I> in which the A radicals are identical or different and are acrylates or methacrylates or vinyl groups, the R radicals are identical or different and are C1-C8-alkoxy or C1-C8-acetoxy groups, and n is the number 1, 2 or 3, obtainable by reacting a polymer mixture of the polymer a) and the random ethylene copolymer b) with the organosilane compound c) in the presence of a free-radical initiator and in the presence of a condensation catalyst, at temperatures of from 180 to 280 DEG C, pressures of from 1 to 100 bar and mean residence times of the reaction mixture of from 0.2 to 10 minutes.

Abstract: The invention relates to a polypropylene-based bumper system comprising a bumper support A (1) comprising glass fibre-reinforced polypropylene, an energy-absorbing foam core B (2) comprising foamed polypropylene, and a tough shell C (3) which comprises EP rubber-modified polypropylene and may, if desired, be painted. The bumper system can be recycled by mechanical comminution, extrusion and granulation. The granules can be used to produce injection mouldings having good mechanical properties.
