Abstract: FIELD: descent film evaporator; production of high-purity glycols. SUBSTANCE: method provides for complete wetting of entire solid heated surface in form of evaporating tubes by regulating the flow of liquid delivered to evaporator, smooth distribution of liquid at evaporator inlet by means of at least two box-type perforated distributors located above each other and shafted relative to each other and heat insulation of tube sheet (sheets). Descent film evaporator proposed for realization of said method includes heated solid surface in form of evaporating tubes provided with upper and lower tube sheets, unit for heating evaporating tubes and glycol-containing liquid supply unit made in form of at least two perforated box-type distributors located above each other and shifted relative to each other; upper tube sheet and/or lower tube sheet (sheets) are provided with heat insulation. This evaporator may be used as still residue evaporator of rectifying column. Said method makes it possible to avoid catalytic oxidation of glycols due to avoidance of contact of their vapor phase with particles of iron or ferric iron getting for evaporation. Abstract: chemical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves distillation of initial medium in column and withdrawal of (i) pure ethylene oxide in liquid or gas state from the top section of column and through lateral tap-off disposed in the concentrating section of column and (ii) bottom product. In emergency situations, a fire-extinguishing means is supplied to the column. Process is characterized by that the distillation column is operated at pressure 2 to 10 bar and temperature from 20 to 180 C. Mixture is passed through several in-series disposed zones with structured metal sheet inserts or charge beds arranged within the column, from which at least one zone is connected to a water source. Water functions as ethylene oxide-miscible fire- extinguishing means, which raises pressure in the column by 0.01 to 4 bar. EFFECT: optimized process parameters. 8 cl, 1 dwg
