Abstract: A moulding consists of light guiding fibres embedded in a matrix, with fibre ends that leave the moulding at different points along its sides. The matrix consists of a polymer with a density of less than 2000 kg/m3>. The light guiding fibres are arranged in parallel and consist of glass, polymethylmetacrylate, polycarbonate or polystyrol. The moulding contains 5-90 vol% of fibres. The matrix consists of a polymer foam with a density of 10-200 g/l, or a polystyrol or polypropylene particle foam. The moulding is formed by placing the fibre in a mould, adding a flowable reactive resin mixture, and then sintering, foaming or hardening.
