Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the multilayered composite plastic material having good barrier effect against fuel and economical to produce. SOLUTION: This multilayered composite plastic material contains at least (A) one layer constituted of at least about 90 wt. % of all layers of an ethylene homopolymer or copolymer, at least (B) one barrier layer substantially constituted of polybutylene terephthalate and, as necessary, (C) a layer of an adhesion accelerator having function improving the adhesion between these layers.

Abstract: Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is used as the barrier layer(s) (B) in a multilayer plastic composite material which also contains layer(s) (A) comprising mainly (at least 90 wt%) ethylene homo- or co-polymers and, if required, layer(s) of coupling agent (C) to promote adhesion between (A) and (B). Independent claims are also included for (a) a process for the production of this material by coextrusion-blow moulding; (b) hollow products made from this material, especially plastic fuel containers.
