Abstract: The parent patent describes a catalyst for ethylene oxide prodn. consisting of Ag and alkali metal, or their cpds., on a carrier. The catalyst contains (atom % on Ag) Na 0.1-2% and either K 0.05-0.35%; Rb 0.03-0.25% or Cs 0.0005-0.2% (or mixts. of the heavier metals). The first addition describes similar catalysts contg. only 0.0005-0.0005% Cs or 0.003-0.03% Rb (or their mixt.). In this addition the Na is partly or completely replaced by Li. Excellent selectivity and lifetime are provided.
