Abstract: L'invention concerne un procédé de distillation du styrène dans au moins une colonne de distillation en présence d'un nitrophénol inhibant la polymérisation, conformément auquel on ajoute le nitrophénol à l'alimentation de la colonne, on récupère le nitrophénol concentré au fond de la colonne sous forme de phénate par réaction du résidu ou de la queue avec de l'ammoniac et on le renvoie à l'alimentation de la colonne sous forme du produit issu de la réaction.

Abstract: In the distillation of styrene in at least one distillation column in the presence of a nitrophenol capable of inhibiting polymerization, the nitrophenol which is added to the feed flowing to the column and which accumulates in the residues at the bottom of the column is recovered by reaction of the residues with ammonia to form the ammonium nitrophenolate, and the nitrophenol is recycled to the column feed in the form of the ammonium nitrophenolate. The contents of the base of the column may be treated with gaseous ammonia and the precipitated ammonium nitrophenolate separated and added, in solid form, to the feed flowing to the column.
