Abstract: Production of polyisobutene involves polymerization of isobutene (I) using an inert diluent and a Lewis acid (II) containing halogen as catalyst, in which (I) in the form of droplets is contacted with (II) in polymerization equipment. Independent claims are included for (1) polyisobutene with a number average molecular weight Mn in the range of 150000-5000000 g/mole and a dispersity index D in the 4-10 range; (2) polyisobutene obtained by the specified process.
