Abstract: The parent patent discloses a process for the controlled delay of the reaction of isocyanate cpds. with polyester-polyols by using polyesterpolyols contg. 0.0005-10 (0.001-5) wt. % of >=1 added aldehyde or ketone. According to the present patent the polyesterpolyols contain, as further additive, a monoamine, in mol. ratio aldehyde or ketone gp. : amino gp. 1:0.1 to 1:1. Used in the prodn. of polyurethane elastomers. Further addn. of monoamines allows use of also volatile aldehydes and/or ketones at higher reaction temps.

Abstract: The retardation of the reaction of polyisocyanates (I) with polyester-polyols (II) is achieved by using (II) obtd. by reacting the usual polyester-polyols (III) for polyurethane prodn. with 0.005-0.1 mole/mole OH gps. in (III) of a monoepoxide (IV) of formula: (in which R1 is Me, Et or Ph; R2 is H or Me). The reaction can be retarded without the use of the usual acidic cpds. The reaction time can be regulated up to ca. 300s.

Abstract: Catalyst free polyester polyols for use in polyurethane compositions are prepared by melt-condensation of polyalcohols and polycarboxylic acids. When the resulting polyol obtains an acid number of 480 or less, selected distillable mono- and/or dialcohols are added and the condensation continued until an acid number of less than one is obtained. By the same process out of specification polyester polyols can be regenerated for polyurethane use.
