Abstract: The invention relates to partially aromatic, partially crystalline thermoplastic polyamide moulding compounds containing: A) between 40 and 100 wt. % of a copolyamide consisting of a1) between 30 and 44 mol % of units derived from terephthalic acid, a2) between 6 and 20 mol % of units derived from isophthalic acid, a3) between 42 and 49.5 mol % of units derived from hexamethylene diamine, and a4) between 0.5 and 8 mol % of units derived from aromatic diamines having between 6 and 30 C atoms, the mol percentage of constituents a1) to a4) amounting to 100; B) between 0 and 50 wt % of a fibrous and particulate filler; C) between 0 and 30 wt. % of a rubber-elastic polymer; and D) between 0 and 30 % of other additives and auxiliary products, the weight percentage of constituents A) to D) amounting to 100.

Abstract: Polar solvent with dissolved processing aid is applied (12) to the fibrous material (10), which then runs through a capacitative sensor (30). From capacitance variations, solution layer non-uniformity is determined. Preferred features: In determining the capacity variation, a reference capacity is subtracted from that measured. This is predetermined using non-coated fibrous material. The reference capacity is selected from a given constant value, which is a function of the mean fiber thickness and material. The reference value is alternatively determined continuously by measurement of the fiber before coating, using a similar sensor (20) arrangement. In addition, correlation assures that the reference value is appropriate to the same section of fiber being measured after coating. A constant voltage is applied to the condenser, capacitance variation being measured from the charging and discharging currents. Each sensor forms part of an oscillatory circuit. The fibrous material is plastic, the polar solvent water and the processing aid is a sol preparation. The method employs a device of the ULSTER (RTM) TESTER type.

Advantageously, the drive band is made of steel having a tensile strength of from 1200 to 2500 N/mm2, especially from 2000 to 2500 N/mm2. The novel positioning device can be used with advantage in any type of system for recording, reproducing and storing audio, video, data or control signals.
