Abstract: System for the underground gasification of coal in situ is based on producing the energy requiref for the gasifying reaction in the form of microwaves by a high-frequency generator on the surface. This energy is transmitted to the coal seam through at least one waveguide for a conversion of the electromagnetic energy of the microwaves into heat energy. System requires no air or oxygen for the reaction so that water can be used as the gasification medium and no carbon dioxide is developed by the reaction.
