Abstract: Process for combustion of a gas stream containing as fuel-N-containing gas component at least NOx, HCN and/or NH3 comprises splitting the gas component before combustion into a splitting gas containing N2,. H2 and optionally CO. An apparatus for carrying out the process is also claimed comprising (a) a combustion chamber (5); (b) a burner (2); and (c) a splitting reactor (15) with an inlet for the gas stream.
