Abstract: The bumper comprises a beam (1) resistant to bending loads on fixed mountings, and preceded by an energy-absorber (5) clad with an elastic cover (6). The ends (7) of the beam protruding beyond the mounting points are joined together by one or more ropes (9), the tension in which can be adjustable. The rope can be of fibre-reinforced plastic. USE/ADVANTAGE - Vehicle bumper design increases specific resistance to bending loads.
