Abstract: Preparing carbamate and allophanate group containing polyisocyanate comprises reacting at least one isocyanate monomer (A1) with at least one monohydroxyalkylcarbamate (A2) in the presence of catalyst to form a bond between urethane group and catalyst. Independent claims are included for: (1) the carbamate and allophanate group containing polyisocyanate obtainable by reacting isocyanate monomer with monohydroxyalkylcarbamate, at least one compound (A3), at least one isocyanate reactive group, and at least one binder or another reactant with reactive functional group; and (2) a coating composition comprising the carbamate and allophanate group polyisocyanate, at least one hydroxy containing group binding with hydroxyl group according to DIN 53240-2 of at least 15 mg potassium hydroxide/g, at least one melamine formaldehyde resin, optionally at least one solvent and at least one varnish type additive.
