Abstract: Disclosed is a seed treatment formulation for protecting a plant that grows from a seed against a pest, which comprises an effective amount of a phenylsemicarbazone of the formula (I) such as metaflumizone (common name of 2'-[2-(4-cyanophenyl)-1-(alpha,alpha,alpha-trifluoro-m-tolyl)ethylidene]-4-(trifluoromethoxy)carbanilohydrazide) or an agriculturally acceptable salt thereof and a colorant, wherein the variables are as defined in the specification.
